Inspection I / Inspection 2/ Oil service sequence?

Hi folks, first query as an owner so please be gentle if I'm appearing to be thick

Can anyone reassure me that I’m correct in figuring out the servicing on my Z4? I’m still a bit confused after RTFM and searching on here.(I’ve stuck in a theoretical figure of 12k miles between service indicators as a random mileage).

Oil service (12k miles or 2 years)
Inspection 1 (24k miles or 2 years)
Oil service (36k miles or 2 years)
Inspection 2 (48k miles or 2 years)
Oil service (60k miles or 2 years)
Inspection 1 (72k miles or 2 years)
Oil service (84k miles or 2 years)
Inspection 2 (96k miles or 2 years)
And so on…

I think my Z4’s due an Inspection 1 (going from the above) even though the service indicator is showing 7800 miles to go. It’s a low mileage car and has covered only 7000 miles since the last service (an “Oil Service” just under 2 years ago) so I’ll be going by time (every 2 years) rather than mileage for servicing and ignoring the miles-to-go-til-inspection readout on the dash. Brake fluid was changed 2 years ago too so will be due again now I guess?

Can anyone confirm all the above to reassure me?!

It's a 2004 3.0i if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Ally

The sequence (OS/I1/OS/I2/OS/I1 etc ) is correct. if you do the miles to warrant it then stick with it.

Servicing only once every 2 years is not good, you should look to an annual service of at least an oil change. It is not necessary to follow the sequence in this case. Use time-based intervals for brake fluid (2 years) and coolant changes (4 years); these get flagged on time basis by the service indicator, anyway. Then tie the major items, filters/plugs to mileage.

You can manage this by not re-setting the service indicator between annual services. Then let the service indicator remind you when you need to do the major mileage and time-based items.

Thanks

Sorry, I should've said I'm not in favour of leaving oil for 2 years between changing either, regarless of mileage. I know modern oils and engines are supposed to be OK with it, but for all it costs me to change the oil myself between official services I'm daft not to.

I've only just bought my Z4 but it's currently on 19k miles, last service being an oil change at 11k miles/2 years ago (brake fluid changed at same time). I'll arrange an Inspection 1 ASAP along with a brake fluid change. From there I'll be able to do as you say...

Mines a 2004 3.0 and not yet had her inspection 1

Bought the car in Jan with 11.5k on the clock and now showing 17k inspection 1 due 3450.

The car has oil changes in the history and did an oil change in the spring my mate is a tech for BMW so gave the car a mini service and a good nose around when we did the oil its also had a diagnostic check and no probs at all he told me not to worry and will get the car booked when the car tells me too
