Inspection I and Warranty questions

Morning campers!

Im back up at my folks in Burton On Trent for the weekend and thought id try and sort out my cars service and warranty this morning (i left my flat in central london at 6:30am - so got here bright and breezy and everyone was still asleep)

So i called a few places for a Insp I on my 3.0si and WITHOUT oil the cheapest I got was £218.33 ann inc (with oil it was £326 :o ) which was from BMW Sunningdale near my work.
How does this price comepare to your quotes on a like for like basis? I thought somewhere near here would be cheaper - but surprisingly, Sytner in Derby was 20 quid more! Battersea BMW which is close to me in London was 269 w/o oil.

Along the same theme, I thought id see where i was with warranty. So basically when i bought the car it had 6 months left on off independant non BMW warranty. Thats about to run out and I want to take up BMW warranty. I called them today but they are shut on a saturday. So i was wondering where i would stand since there car has effectivly not been warrantied by bmw for a period of 6 months, yet it shall have full BMWSH. Do you think i will have any issues when i try and take a policy out?

Cheers
Jamie

Firstly - the Insp 1 costs sound about right for a BMW dealer. Secondly - not sure about the warranty only thing to do is ask.

They allow warranties after a gap now, though it won't cover anything until a month after the policy starts and it is subject to one or two other conditions, IIRC.

£100 excess every time you claim.

? You mean if i claimed during the gap period or just in general?
If you mean in general then this depends on the level of cover you elect and pay for . the one id go for would be zero excess

Just had my inspection 1 last week at a bmw dealer, 3.0Si, cost me £251 including everything needed in the service, i got my MOT at the same time which was an additional £54.

Sounds to me like you need to haggle harder, i got my bmw dealer to do it cheaper than the indy would, they also agreed to fix my headlight washers under warrenty without much pushing.

All in all really chuffed with the service, even the hire car was nice.

That was at Elvet BMW in Durham, credit where credits due.

I think thats the clincher - perhaps labour rates are lower in the NE? I went to uni in Sunderland and remember the BMW dealer there then being LOTS cheaper than anywhere else (i had an e268 5 series ship then!!!)

what does the inspection 1 consist of mines booked in for next saturday?
cheers

Thats if you take the warranty after the factory warranty is over. Then it is £100 excess no mater what.
