What's the procedure for an inspection 2??? Mine need doing in 2k and will do it myself. I changed the oil and filters 4k ago
 
Spark plugs, diff & gearbox oil change, valve clearances (remember to replace cam chest gasket), cabin micro filter.

It's all listed in your service book.
 
Are valve clearances only on //M cars? My dealer told me the reason mine was so much cheaper than an M was because valve clearances didn't need to be checked.
 
I did oil and filter
air filter
cabin filter
aircon and alternator belts
front and rear pads with sensors (discs were OK) change your discs each time they've been through 2 sets of pads
spark plugs upgrade to iridium
should have changed brake fluid but didn't (maybe next year when I change oil again)
general check of underside/exhaust system etc.
 
How hard Is a diff and gearbox oil change?..

Brake pads and discs and hoses and fluids I replaced 1000m ago.

Sparks plugs are easy peasy, general oil change etc

OP didn't specify model, hence the prompt to check this service book.

Non-///M doesn't need the valve clearance checks.

Unless you are pushing 150K miles or have noises I wouldn't go near the diff or gearbox oil.
 
Have decided to change them... cant be a bad thing.. im on 83k

will change:

diff and gearbox oils
spark plugs
oil and filters

i have changed my braking systems completly, and bushs, and control arms, so not much else to look at for inspection 2... i have a new exhaust system etc...

I done the diff and gear oil at 70k and it feels so much better now, I'm sure you will notice a difference too

I changed plugs to irridium too but can't say I've noticed any difference at all but still can't be a bad thing

You done the aux belt and a.c. belt + the tensioners
It cost about £60 for the bits for that but well worth it

Iridium plugs have a much longer life - you'll benefit in the long run. :thumbsup:

The aux belt is the belt at the front of the block, it turns the water pump, alternator

The tensioner is a pulley wheel that keeps the belt tight

The ac belt is in front of the aux belt and needs to come off to do the aux belt so you might aswell do them at the same time

Don't know about diy's

It's easy enough to do, you do have to jack the front of the car up though and do them from under it

Also while your under the front there you could drop the coolant out and do a coolant change as the drain is just under the front too
