Bit of a longshot this.
Does anyone have a quote from a bmw dealer for a inspection 2 on a e85 , have been promised a price match from my local dealer after they asked for 497£ i told them i had been quoted 300 from another source... thing is will they give me it in writing and errrrrrrrr how can they drop 200£ just like that :headbang:

anyway if anyone has one i would be grateful

Funny you should bring this up but I've just booked my Inspection 2 on my E85.. I rang 6 different BMW dealers around the country to get the best price for the Inspection. This is what I found out;

All Prices Include VAT, Labour and Parts where needed

BMW Tunbridge Well - £489.00
BMW Sopers of Lincon - £439.81
BMW Thames Ditton - £450.00
BMW Crodyon - £564.70
BMW Warwick - £399.00
BMW Redhill - £400.00

I ended up booking it into BMW Redhill as they initially said it was £536 and then I got them down to £400... It pays to ring around but you have to make sure that you ask that all prices include labour and parts etc... some BMW garages told me the price and then I had to ring them back up as I was surprise it was so cheap. They said 'that's plus VAT and labour'! Make sure you get the name of the person you deal with and make a note of the phone call and time (apparently all phone calls are recorded). I hope that helps.

Maybe I'm being a bit dim here but how can they quote a price for VAT, Labour and Parts when they don't know yet which parts may or may not be required without inspecting the car first?

does this inspections not cover certain items? and you will get charged for them being changed or not?

BMW Southend wanted £550! Plus £106 for the 24month service (brake fluid).

Inspection 2 will replace oil, sparks & filters, even if they don't need changing, they're changed. Any additional parts will be charged in addition, but this is dealt with separately to the inspection/service. E.g brake pads/discs.

Is this really how much Inspection 2 would cost!

I would expect around £300 if an oil service is £170? Looks like I'm going to have a big shock when I ring round for that one ;)

I didn't go to BMW in the end. Went to a BMW specialist, who charged £356 for inspection 2 & 24month. Got it booked in to have the front discs and pads changed & uprated this Saturday. Going for drilled & grooved discs :) £300 all in.

My local dealer wanted £370 for an Inspection 1 Service and price matched another Main Dealer of £199, so nearly 50% off.

Remind them of the 4 year+ service pricing.

Is anyone able to briefly outline the 4 year+ servicing which we should quote when talking to the dealers? I'm thinking for when we get the enviable "what's that then?" from the dealer. I've tried a search but just getting tons of entries of the word year! Ta

And supply your own oil.

I asked if this was the 4 year + service and was told yes,,, then as mentioned they dropped the price.Further to this, i contacted another dealer and they quoted me 340 so i will just go with them, can be doing with being messed around.

I would say is there any loyalty with the dealers, the first one i have bought a 320cd and a 2.0 Z4 from them, and the second i bought my bike from them.... so the answer is not really..

BMW used to offer a scheme called 'Four Plus' which reduced the cost of servicing cars that were over 4 year's old - theoretically to persuade owners to spend within the dealer network rather than go to independents.

This has more or less been replaced by 'value servicing' and dealer-specific offerings (e.g. Williams Group run a loyalty scheme which mirrors what was offered under the four plus scheme).

It's now up to the individuals franchises/dealers/groups to offer their own schemes.

Thanks mmm-five. good to know.

Had my 3.0 SE done yesterday £410 inc vat,inc new racing brake fluid, and Texter `E`pads fitted all round, done at my local indie,---
Darren Woods ,bredbury,Stockport. 0161 425 7403.
Wouldnt go anywhere else

My local Indy quoted £340 plus VAT to do an Inspection 2 yesterday... Then on examining the service history we agreed it was due an oil service (which the had previously quoted plus brake fluid change at £130 plus VAT). Then we had a chat and agreed that as the last owner had decided to do the Inspection 2 at Kwik Fit  I'd have an Inspection 1 done... Quoted at £180 plus VAT. Seemed the most sensible and should ensure my history demonstrates love and attention during my ownership. Pretty confident there won't be any extras eitheras they are charging me £800 for all the other work needing done

H&C Motors in Maidstone if anyone needs a recommendation in Kent

Mine was slightly neglected towards the end of the previous owners ownership. It has had its oil service but they didnt have inspection 2 done. Now 4k overdue (will be done once i have her back from the dealer sorting out the paint. Anyway i had a chat with my local indie who did the servicing on my compact and managed to get a full price breakdown, including the exact parts they would use. Cost for them including all filters, oil, spark plugs £320 inc VAT. I can source all the parts (exactly the same), bar the microfilter (anyone know where to get an OEM carbon microfilter?) , cheaper elsewhere so will cost me £245 all in.

Not too bad i dont think.
