Inspection 2

Hi guys .
Just looking for a bit of advice .
I've recently been looking at the service manual I got with the car and noticed at 48000 miles there is no inspection 2 ,my fault should have checked more !
When I bought the car at 32000 miles they serviced it and did an inspection 1 , I think that should of been the inspection 2 . It's had the other oil services and inspection 1,s etc .
The car is saying it's due an oil service in 1500 or so miles . Should I have the inspection 2 done or wait till it comes round again ? .
Since I have had the car I have the oil changed each year . Any advice on this would be great .
Cheers Greg.

For what its worth I'd just get an Inspection 2. Think the only real difference is some extra filters and spark plugs...
Not sure if you've had coolant and brake fluid flushed and replaced? I'd get them too...

Hi kis.
Brake fluid was done just after buying the car as I had the abs pump done etc 2 years ago and not had the coolant replaced so will get that done also. I dont like things being out of sinc  cheers kis

Slightly off (but slightly on) topic, what are the recommended service mileages? I'm in the market for a zed and been told to avoid one approaching Inspection 2, for obvious financial reasons. Anyone able to shed some light as to where the major service intervals are in the Z4 (3.0) lifetime?

Well there is no specific answer on mileage - it's all condition based!

But with my two BMs it seems to be around 15K miles / 2 years, whichever happens sooner.

I wouldn't be put off by an impending Insp II - AFAIK it just means new air filter and spark plugs over and above an Insp I!

Unless it is an M which will need valve clearances checked and adjusted with shims (but only if adjustment is required).

Best to avoid "being told" unless by someone who has actually had one!

As I dont really do that many miles, I generally alternate between minor service one year then major service the folowing year. probably overkill but works for me.

Hi guys .
After looking around on here I've decided to book my car in with Darren wood for my insp 2 and brake fluid change .
I did have an issue with them a couple of years ago about brake fluid dripping and indeed said so on here .
That said it does seem they get great reviews on here for the work they do .
 .

Generally speaking the service regime whether Se, Si or S54 M should follow
Oil service
Ins1
Oil service
Ins2
Hard to say on what specific miles as varies + easy to get out of sync once a car gets a few owners & 5-10 yrs old BUT I would expect the first Ins2 to be around 50k .
Then sequence repeats .
Perhaps you were warned 're avoiding ins2 on M cars as it's a significantly higher bill .
Costwise a decent Indy should do ins1 for under £200 & ins2 under £300
ZM cars ins1 £450/ £500ish ? Ins2 £750/ £800 ish ? Both require valve clearance checks

Thanks mr wilks
That reasures me a little all the service is there serviced evey 2 years and an oil change inbetween Just as of yet no insp 2 . But at just over 48000 miles not to critical .
Hopefully Darren wood can restore a little faith as I don't have a real preferred garage for this sort of thing .
I hate things being out of sync OCD is a cruel mistress :(
