40k miles for inspection 2?? should be around 60k miles but yes if your gonna do it make sure you get all records on what was done.
as far as to early for service cant really say its a bad thing only to your wallet :driving:

Depends how the car has been driven. Mine came up at 47k. I recall Beedub had his done at 12k. :D

Just had another quote from main dealer inc brakefluid, gearbox oil and diff oil. As well as including checkin valve clearances and shim. pLus vanos filter for £850

That's not bad at all, I think I paid around £750 at a main dealer about 18 months ago for the same minus the brake fluid - car had about 35k on the clock (peace of mind service)

if you dont feel comfortable doing the valve check maybe do the other services and just have dealer do the valve check.. should save you some money.

im a powersports tech on sport bikes ect so valve checks on the s54 was easy to the much more complex shim under bucket design of very high reving bikes :driving:

when i did mine i changed every fluid with redline, and bmw coolant except the a/c oil lol even flushed the power steering fluid. changed spark plugs with factory all filters. lubed all bushings and pivot points also removed the CDV so i flushed the clutch line as well. cleaned the drain holes for the top ect.

my point is there is alot more that i think should be done then what the dealer does for 1500$ pretty close to your 900 euro's i think

good luck

Just look at the official prices on bmw service. Wow, they've gone up since last year.

It was quoting ~830 for an inspection 2 last year when I had mine done. If you can get it done for close to £800 from a dealer now, you're doing well I guess. I did supply the oil too so was charged ~700 from Sytner.

Are any of the main dealers doing good prices on Inspection 2 at the moment? My local one Elms wants £1351 for this now....yikes!

That's the standard price now for an inspection 2 at main dealers, ridiculous!

Inspection 1 costs pretty much the same now as what an inspection 2 used to.
'M Value Service' is no more.

I would never take mine to a dealer but I feel for those that have the fbmwsh books as I could understand that you might want to keep that going. You're basically being shafted by BMW for your loyalty, nice.

My Insp 2 thingy didn't come on until about 60k, so i don't agree with those saying its not likely.

I paid £6-700 for mine from a good Indy

Hilariously, this is a 'value service' price....the standard price is £1665 for an Inspection 2....wonder if the receptionist gives you a blowjob whilst your being shafted by the service manager...???

Wow, fantastic value for money and they change the microfilter and test the horn too, must rush off to my nearest BMW service centre for this ASAP.

I was contemplating getting the inspection 2 done at BMW.....though after seeing this ridiculous rise (pretty sure no blowjob is included) it's Indy all the way now!

I really wouldn't think that is the norm & personally would see it as a negative in its history
It could be that some services were done later than the OBD was asking for ?
We all know these cars benefit from over service as opposed to wringing out every mile before having the staple requirements covered . unless you have proof of intermediate oil changes without resetting the service countdown of course

I'd agree. I struggle to imagine that the car has been driven it's entire life super slowly and smoothly. Is it a 1 owner car?
Those 15k increments quickly come down to more like 12k if the car is being driven even remotely like a sports car. It's calculated on how much fuel has been used. The 15k mileage assumes a rather optimistic mpg figure.

All I can say is that those complaining about being quoted over a grand really aren't trying very hard. In one phone call to Sytner I got mine down to £820 for an I2. Didn't even have to haggle really. Ring a few dealers (not just your local ones).
