I'll post this in the 'M' section as I know a lot of cars are nearing inspection 2 these days. 
My service indicator told me I had 6,800 miles until inspection 2 but as the car is now 8 years old I decided it might be time to change the diff/gearbox oils anyway so I eventually spoke to Pete at Autotech and having discussed my worries and needs with him I booked the car in for Saturday/Monday. even though this required a long train journey/drive either way.
Pete's reputation as a superb and honest mechanic is well known on this forum and I can say that from first phone call to discuss the service to picking the car up yesterday the experience was brilliant
His new premises are big with loads of parking and it's a testament to his prowess as a mechanic that it was full of cars waiting for his attention!
He has almost completed his reception area and as promised he will sort out an open day for the Z4 Forum.
It was great to have Pete explain to me in great detail ( the guy is quite obsessive about cars!) what was done, showing me all the measurements for the shims he replaced etc telling me what he checked and confirming that the car was in very good health. While it was with him I had the front brake discs and pads replaced as there was a little judder on braking. One set of BMW OEM discs and pads later and the car now stops like it should with no judder at all.
If, like me you worry about letting a stranger near your car and worry that servicing will be done properly then consider a trip to Autotech. Cost wasn't an issue for me in getting this done but his prices are very competitive. I am certain you won't be disappointed.
