Final bill came in, Warranty covered $3,600 of the repairs, I had to pay $200 deductable + additional $200 in labor.

nope, I guess the shop quoted worse case scenario. They did a great job and very happy with the results! The rattle sounce from the vanos is completely gone and the TCU (Blue tooth) is working great!

I did pay out of my own pocket for the hydralic line repair since the warranty company said that was an existing issue.
 
Back to the old VANOS argument. Are they worth changing on the M54 engines....?

Not talking about new ones, just the seals?
