Insp I costs

pvr

 South East UK
As I see this one come up a few times, just thought I would add the costs that I have found as my Insp I is due now.

Best price: Vines
Service:

INSP 1
Brake fluid
MOT

Car is now 6 years old.

£822 incl VAT with own oil supplied.

Chanldlers about £50 more.

Pity you've got nothing local on MainDealerDiscount (closest is about 180 miles away), as my Insp2 was about £100 less than that, and I didn't supply any oil.

I checked that website and it was indeed cheaper somewhere up north, but could not really compare as I had an MOT and brake fluid included as well.

Not to mention the hassle ...

Nice website though - not sure why it is only for part of the country though.

I cannot recommend Redish Motorsport enough, such an amazing service. He loves and knows his BMW's and I will never go anywhere else again. He was going to write up a topic with pictures and details of my Insp 1 but he is quite a busy chap, usually booked up for circa 5 weeks! It's coming though...!

He'll have a good chinwag after the work, showing and explaining what he's done, with step by step pictures. They take the greatest care of your P&J :)

I can understand people wanting a nice FBMWSH, but you could easily save yourself £400 here, would you get that back come sale time?

Hey, my dealer beat him with the MOT cost of £35 :D

Couple of points I have to consider though.

- It would be easier for me to sell my car with fullbmwsh .
- The cost of going to an independent further away would be more due to loss of income.

I am not doubting the quality of the service at all from an independent, just don't want to reduce my "car appeal" as no dealer would touch my M after a service elsewhere from my experience at least.

Good value service there chap in our local club uses them for his M3 jobs he's happy with them too.

Seems steep? My inspection 2 was 820....

Few reasons:

- This includes the brake fluid service, normally about £100 I would say
- Includes MOT

And lastly, you are comparing it to Wales - enough said :poke:

Yer I know, I thought £50 was steep too! All understandable and fair enough points though pvr, each to their own and I can see why you want BMW to do it. Hope you get the price down a bit though :)

pvr - I paid £675 at Sytner Nottingham (not renowned for their benevolence trust me!!). I've also recently paid £48 for brake fluid change at Stratstone. So all-in, I reckon you might be able to drive down your price by £100 or so potentially. Worth a go...

I paid £700 for insp 1 and brake fluid change also at Sytner Nottingham.
They said they'd price match so I phoned all the East Midlands dealerships and got the cheapest quote. I also got a loan car for nothing.
It's a bit of hassle phoning around but I reckon it saved me £50 at least.

Im in shock at this thread - i didnt realise that the Insp I was this much and didnt realise it involve the valve clearance check etc - therefore is it a 2 days job? I thought this was only only on the Insp 2.

What makes up the bulk of the additional cost at a dealers for Insp I on an ///M versus says a Insp 1 on a 3.0si - im sure that service cost me max 300 on my previous car...at a dealer!

When the bill comes, I will throw my BMW membership card on the table as well so I get the other 10% off as well.

I never tell them that in advance, otherwise they will just say "oh, we took that into account". I wait for the bill to arrive, then hit them with the 10% card 8)

I need to book an inspection 1 on my 3.0si and want to use a specialist indy in the area (London / home counties). Has anyone had any experience of BMSport in Bexleyheath?
