so you are waiting, near a parking lot, with empty spaces, on double yellow lines, in a low sports car, behind a 4WD, with a stupid girl driver, that has to reverse out, ?

Am I the only one that thinks it was a 'stupid' place to wait? :D

LOL see you point but totally immaterial - could've been a kid on a bike. Person in 4x4 obviously didn't check their mirrors sufficiently...

Yes she was wrong but.....
Still a stupid place to wait, when there are empty spaces 20yds away.

Besides, Kid on a bike would have heard it and moved, not rung his bell.
:D

unless of course it could have been a kid with hearing difficulties, and his chain had just come off and he was bending down etc etc,

One thing though I bet he wont wait there again, which proves my point.

No excuse there, should have seen the front on the z sticking out in mirrors.... not paying attention.... get the number of the witness who saw on the phone if you can? :o

Ought to polish out with some Tcut

But seriously gutted for you.. hopefully its only the wing which needs changing...

Why do you have a LHD car?

Ouch, feel for you mate. Had a similar thing a few years back whilst parked in a supermarket car park. The silly bint came back with the yellow line issue after she had told her husband but it didn't affect the insurance claim. I asked her if she was intending to punish me for parking there when she reversed into me!

Sorry to hear of your pain. Not heard great things about Carrs of Bury St Edmund's but Coopers of Ipswich aren't bad, so might be worth giving them a call. If not then these guys look pretty good over in Sudbury.

Never used them but they seem to be an approved specialist.

Well, found out today, no wheel/alignment damage so it atm will be just a replacement of the fender and fender liner and a paint. Not near as exciting as that thread by Lucy that someone magically revived /shiftyeyes :?

Sorry to hear about the bad luck

Well here's hoping that she gets done for driving without due care and attention. :poke:

I nearly had a muppet in an X5 hit me in the car park the other day - talking on his phone.

Sucks. Glad it's fixable and no-one was hurt though. :)

If she was on her phone that is a criminal offence in this country, which could result in a different view on liability. It should be possible to sub poena the records of her mobile phone calls and relate them to the time of the accident. Discuss it with her insurance company. This should prove a profitable line of inquiry.

Maybe.... and by similar argument

Highway Code:
Waiting and parking (238-252)
238
You MUST NOT wait or park on yellow lines during the times of operation shown on nearby time plates (or zone entry signs if in a Controlled Parking Zone) – see 'Information signs' and 'Road markings'.
Double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time even if there are no upright signs.
You MUST NOT wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers, on school entrance markings (see 'Road markings') when upright signs indicate a prohibition of stopping.

Mind you from the position of the Z4 with it's LHD driver's door closely in line with the path to the building, that could suggest something other than waiting???

We have a local shop/doctors near us, with a f*ck-off car park, but there are regularly people who can't be arse'd to use it, (usually big Audi's or 4x4's), and park, or wait, on the double yellows outside, causing difficulty for people reversing out of spaces, causing a hazard to kids coming out and crossing the road, and causing a hold up to traffic entering the car park as other people exit, if you complain they give you a shitty look like it's their right, the amount of times I hoped a scabbly old van would reverse into them, :D

You know, driving through all the cities and seeing so many folk parked/waiting at the double yellows I had forgotten what the book said (I was thinking it was legal). I guess the cops figure it isn't worth the effort to give all those people tickets? At any rate, next time I'll just pull into a spot so that way I'll probably just get a door ding from the chick in the SUV.

Hope you get the car fixed soon,
but just a few notes.

over here:
fender is a guitar
hood is a convertible roof
trunk is an elephant's nose
tire is a spelling mistake

Ryder Cup is the European's

:D :fuelfire: :D

So, how common or uncommon is it for the maintenance folk to not call me? I had to call to find out if/when the estimate was done, then was sent to USAA's site in order to get the full list of what was replaced (and wasn't there). That was Friday, it's Tuesday now (well Wednesday), I'm going to stop by tommorow and see what's up. I just wanted to see what the norm for here is. I know Coopers (my main place) calls an updates me fairly often.
