Insane Stealer Tire Price

I had my car in for service today and the stealer recommended new tires. He quoted me $387 a tire for the fronts - high but not completely crazy for a stealer. For the rears, he quoted me $914 per tire! Completely out of this world insane!

Can you say Tire Rack.com?

I found Michelin PS2 ZPs for $1500, full set, fitted and TPMs rebuilt at Discount Tire.

I think I am going to go with Eagle F1 Asymetrics. I can get them from Tire Rack.com with a road hazard warranty for $907. Add in about $100 for mounting and balancing and I can get 4 new (better) tires for only about 10% more than the stealer quoted me for on rear!!!

I did like Smokin...bought the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP's from Tire Rack. I had them shipped to and installed by a local shop that Tire Rack recommended. So far I am pleased with these tires, far superior than the Bridgestones.

Haven't gotten them yet, but they're what I have in mind when my OEMs go. So far, I heard only good things for the PS2 ZPs.

I was originally considering the PS2's as well, but I am currently leaning towards the Eagle F1 Asymetrics. Any opinions out there as to which is better?

Does Tire Rack have a review? I've never run the Asymetrics. Had Gatorbacks years ago (OEM on my Probe GT) and hated them. Once they wore just a bit they would hydroplane something fierce.

Don't know if it carries any weight, but the PS2 ZPs are now OEM on Corvette.

Tire Rack had 11 customer reviews on the PS2 ZP's and the score from 1 to 10 was 8.82, (10 being the best). Right now I am pleased with these tires, we will see down the road.

Overall, the Tire Rack review gives the Goodyears a slight edge over the PS2s. But if you look at the 'real world' portion of the review and the story reverses (again slightly). The PS2 ZPs are more expensive, but they due have the advantage of still being a runflat ... decisions ... decisions ...
