So bought tool and disc off eBay as wanting to calibrate steering, well I can't for the life of me work out how to load it into laptop! Is there an idiots guide anywhere as not too hot with computers, or is there another I could get that would simplify things. Sorry if this has been covered a thousand times. Will attach photo of the one I have.

Hi. Dbrs
Unfortunately installing INPA is not straight forward. I’ll explain the basics & give you a link to a good video.

There are different ways to install INPA depending what operating system you are using. The CD that came with the cable may be a copy for Windows XP or Windows 7. If you are running Windows 10 you will need to download the most up to date version off the internet.

A WORD OF WARNING! I would advice not loading any unauthentic software on to your main PC. Because of viruses or corrupt data files that could damage your OS.

I installed INPA on to an old laptop that I run virtual copies Windows XP & 7.

First you will need to copy all the installation files to your C: drive. Then follow the installation steps one, two & three. Theses installations make changes to your OS registry & if the data files are corrupt this is what could damage you OS.

Once you have successfully installed INPA, you will need to install the drivers for the cable. It is imperative that this is done correctly because this is the link between the INPA software & your car. You will need to setup the correct Com/Port setting using Device Manager.bmw-inpa-driver-setup (1).jpg

If you do intend to load the software on to your laptop, I would advise you create a system recovery before you start, then if things go wrong, you can reset your PC to that point.

All the information you need is in this video & I recommend you watch it a few times, until you understand how its done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= A3KZUCCiqCE

Good Luck

Good advice from Ladderman I think he gave me advice when I did mine .

If you are not too far from me I will go through it with you

Easiest way these days is to download the one click installer versions from somewhere, shouldn't cost more than a tenner, might even be free if you have a search about (bearing in mind none of these guys technically have a right to be selling this software for profit anyway!).

I wouldn't go through the ballache of manually installing them anymore, not worth the effort. ISTA will be able to calibrate steering and is much more user friendly and overall useful than INPA anyway.

So gave up with trying to get it working from disc so downloaded a free single click installation and low and behold it works!!
Just got to get my head round inpa and the German lol.
Thanks for replies guys 👍
