INPA Install Errors

I am trying to get a full english version of INPA 5.0.2 installed on a win7 64 bit notebook and have hit a few snags.

At each stage when I select the english for USA or UK it looks in a folder for a file that hasn't installed in the previous stage. It looks for C:BMW/LZH.

I went on through the install regardless and copied/replaced the inpa.ini file as INPA.EXE and it opens and sees my cable and vehicle but when I select E85 it gives the error "Couldn't find INPA configuration file C:\INPA\BIN\...\cfgdat\E85.ENG"

Do you think it would work if I could just get a E85.ENG file to put in or will I have to resolve the other install errors?

search for "Mike's easy BMW Tools". It's a simple one-click installer that works very well

Possibly this will help...

Also, make sure pin 7& 8 on your obd2 connector are bridged/shorted for the E85. I had to install a switch on mine because I use it on an E89 (unbridged) and E85 (bridged).

What’s the reason for the bridge? Just curious as I’ve not had any problems connecting without doing this but maybe I’ll experience issues if I dig deeper?

To connect to an E85 pins 7 & 8 need to be bridged. Some OBD2 connectors are sold with a switch. If your doesn't have a switch, you can wire in a SPST switch to toggle from bridged to unbridged.

I also have an E89 which requires 7 & 8 to be unbridged. So I installed a switch.

I tried Mikes Easy Install but it is packaged with INPA 5.0.6 which has the code descriptions in German. From what I've read there is no way to have a full English language install with the 5.0.6 version.

I also have the cable with the switch. I originally thought it was causing some of my errors but discovered from another thread on this forum I was taking the wrong menu path. :headbang:

Mikes easy Install is the only version I've got to work properly, although I'm using Windows 10, being in German isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned, just use Google Translate, haven't come up against an problem yet.

Very odd mine seems to work then. Maybe it causes intermittent errors rather than complete inability to connect.

If your cable was sold as being for your car it may have the pins soldered internally. I think some were made and sold that way. The switch is only needed if you plan to use it for both the newer and older vehicles.

Ah right, good to know cheers

I installed the package from https://www.bimmergeeks.net/downloads and installed it per the instruction on this link.

Worked flawlessly.
