I have had a variety of BMWs over the years including 2 Z4s but I sometimes wonder where BMW are going in their attempt to be seen to innovate. Back in the 80s and 90s they were quality performance cars, known for being stingy with the extras but rattle free cars where the door closed with a solidity others couldn't match. But now they seem to change things that don't need changing! We suffer crashy ride and tramlining because they fit run flats as standard...what was wrong with a spare wheel? We have the i drive where you cant open the centre vents without fiddling with a mouse type thing and taking your eyes off the road to look at a screen...likewise changing radio channels. Indicators like on our Z s have been replaced with a system that leaves you driving down the road signalling left, then right, then left again as you try to cancel the turn signal. I have to pull the interior door handle twice to get out the car and why has intermittent moved to the end of the stalk...very fiddly! And now I read you can check your fuel from your keyfob! Why not look at the fuel gauge before you get out? Or when you get in because if your key fob tells you that your fuel level is low you have to get in the car where the fuel gauge is situated in order to fill the thing up! Just more to go wrong when they get to a price I can afford. And then they wont be fixable with a squirt of WD40 it will need a whole new module available only from BMW.
