Inlet manifold recall?

They only recall on safety issues not equipment oddities. The recall is for a brake issue related to the inlet manifold pressure.

not exactly correct. ive had something called a service recall. its a kind of if you don't report it,we don't bother recall. this was on a Nissan micra. k12s when the weather was hot would not start. when recovery arrived it would start. even more perculiar was it only happened to dark coloured cars. if you had your car serviced the dealer would replace a faulty component,if not they wouldn't. if 2G becomes a problem BMW would have to remedy it. they wouldn't get any connected drive subscribers for one,and the additional purchace price of the system that would be redundant, I would want a refund for that.

Mine was only needed for 1 day, which I believe is to install a locking ring. Downside is there is now a distinct smell of hot burnt oil, and what looks like a small leak on the cam cover gasket near the exhaust manifold :headbang: So it probably needs to go back.
