Inlet manifold recall?

Does anyone know of an impending inlet manifold recall? Had a call from my dealer. They want the car for a day to check then rebook for a day if it requires action. It may be the inlet cam mod they announced in nov(?) but they definitely said manifold. It's an lci 2.0

Hi all, have been a lurker on here for a while....I've got an April 2013 LCI, 2.8i. I also had a recall phone call this week. Cotswold BMW want the car for 2 days..... :x

Thanks for the info, I thought this was a recall by BMW some time ago :| odd,

Tim.

Spoke with Williams BMW Stockport Saturday morning who confirmed that there are no current recalls for the 20i and as far as they are aware none pending.

Hope this helps

In to the dealer today. 2 possible inlet cam mods. 1. Measure cam and if correct measurement remove brake pump and fit collar and locking spring. 2. Measure cam if incorrect replace inlet camshaft. Camshafts come from 2 different manufacturers and are different in size apparently.

So just to clarify Tony I take it your VIN was included in the range shown on the earlier posted web link ? Cos mine doesnt appear to be

Yes,hadn't actually checked myself, but it is in the vin range as listed on the link. The connected drive hadn't worked for about 4 weeks,so they were looking at that also. Bloody typical, checked it the evening before and it was perfect. Service said they were having sim issues. Apparently the sims are EE on 2G and they have been encountering difficulties with reception. Sounded like plausible bullshit.

They only recall on safety issues not equipment oddities. The recall is for a brake issue related to the inlet manifold pressure.

Just found this on the F30 forum which may cast some light on the apparently random spread of the recalls:-

The last I heard, only a small subset of the potentially affected cars actually had the brake assist problem. (Camshaft-driven vacuum pump provides vacuum brake assist until it is starved of lubrication, then no more vacuum.) It involved a camshaft from just one of several camshaft suppliers. So not all N20 engines for the designated time frame were affected.
