Inlet Manifold Clamp replacements

Hi guys,

For anyone that has done the throttle/ICV valve clean or TPS change, you will have come across the horrible grip clamp things BMW have used to secure the hoses in place. I intended to replace all of these with jubliee clips whilst doing this job, any thoughts on that? Has anyone else ditched those woeful clamps? I spoke to a bloke at the stealer parts dept. today and he said "all our guys do it" when I asked if they replaced the shite ones with jubliee clips!

Thanks!

Not done it on mine, but did it on a friends M3, and it worked, just be careful not to foul the throttle linkage with them

Cheers Steve. I'll take care on where I put the jubilee clip tensioner bit. Figured it'd be far easier than using those shocking clamp things again, the fact BMW mechs don't even use them says a lot....

If you want to keep it OEM look you could order the M5 airbox side clamps which are jubilee with a nice bmw logo on it. 50p each or so from recollection.

That's a great shout Tom. Ahead of actually doing the work, do I need 6 clips or 12? I see two metal bands on the hoses in some pictures.

Just the 6.
As Steve says, be slightly mindful of I think it is cylinder three and it's throttle linkage.

Hi Tom,

Sorry to ask more questions, but I was wondering if you knew:

- what size the 6 jubilee clips need to be for the manifold?
- how many (and what size) jubilee clips I need for the hoses attached to the ICV?

ICV already had jubilee clips on it, shouldn't need replacing IIRC.

I got these from Amazon for the inlet, worked fine for me, maybe a bit more than the BMW ones though!

10 x Original Hoseclip 50-65mm (12mm band) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E5GV3R4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uq8zybB2A7R1X

I just forced them off with a flat blade screwdriver.
Doesn't matter if you butcher them if you are going to replace them

i use worm clamps here...

they need careful alignment but work well..... you can just see the lead clamps on the front TB and their position. They hold pressure well, and i haven't Re-Tq'd in a year, still holding 8.5lbs of boost...
