Initial vaccine trials looking good..!

You’ve got to be hopeful surely....a 90% success rate so far. I know there’s a long way to go, you might need 2 shots and it might only last 6 months....all up in the air but as far as I’m concerned there’s real hope at last.

Just to be clear it’s not the Oxford vaccine either.

Any thoughts...?

Had an email today actually as I have volunteerd for trials, Im going to be on the next one coming up in North Wales, sooner its out the better so we can all get back to our lives before the economy is shot

My thoughts? A normal vaccine development takes around 10 years. Amazingly we have managed to do this in less than one. But people don't ask why?
How?

Doesn't it seem just a little bit fabricated? C'mon, I know most of you are smart.
Covid seems to be this ever changing, ever dangerous, ever present super-virus which is inciting scientists and world leaders to destroy world economies and somehow some drug company (Pfizer in this case) just put their hand up and say "ahem, err we've just miraculously developed a vaccine in a 10th of the time we normally do.... "
Look at the graphic again. Minimum 2 years development of the first 'discovery research' phase.

Would it mean we wouldn't have to wear these f...ing useless bit of cloth over our faces any more?

My thoughts....
Pfizer has faced thousands of lawsuits filed for medical injuries caused by some of its most popular drugs. It has also set a record for the largest fine paid for a health care fraud lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice. Pfizer paid $2.3 billion in fines, penalties, and settlement for illegal marketing claims.

Not exactly trustworthy. I'll decline for now.

C'mon sheeple!

How long is a piece of string, what viruses is your source using for that data...? You, me and most people have no idea, that’s the point, you don’t know what they know about this particular virus, they already know a lot about it so it’s perhaps not such a hurdle once the thing was understood to a critical point.

Some people in America tried to sue Top gear for $15000 for giving them a car...... America is hardly a stable example for lawsuits is it...

As far as I know this vaccine produces a protein that coats the virus thus letting the body fight it rather than a ‘Cure’ outright....how many other vaccines can do that...? Who knows, There are so many variables that to quote a set of data from past examples is as much use as a choc fire guard. Development moves at an alarming rate coupled with countless variables so let’s not be negative eh...this is looking good.

Im no expert but from what I've read and in reply to the speed times of development it is precisely because its a coronavirus and as such has much in common with previously worked on vaccines for Sars and Mers that they had been developing over the last 20 years.. basically the development was 90% done already, its why so many different pharmaceutical companies had vaccines in the pipeline

And please.. using the phrase “sheeple" because they dont agree with a theory you subscribe to is completely condescending, plenty of us look into, read and reseach and come to our own conclusion based on that

Has to be a good thing, I can't see this news would have been released if its not a cert that it will work although Boris's press conference seem to damp it down somewhat.

Whichever way it's not much use at the moment with Covid rates climbing and can't see it helping Tom Dick and Harry in the street until the spring at the earliest once its been fully approved, manufactured and distributed, but at least it's on the Horizon.

Tim.

Yes, I've retracted that. Sorry.
But, my view is that this whole thing stinks to high heaven. The deaths are in no way commensurate with who are being targeted to be locked down etc. This has been made clear since earlier in the year. It hits the elderly, people with pre-existing medical conditions, the morbidly obese, the chronically unfit. Not the vast and overwhelming majority of those who make this country tick over.
And yet, just wait and see. Will will all be made to take this drug. Ahead of schedule, before it's completely validated.
And I'm sorry, it's only to fill the coffers of the pharma companies.

But are the death rates climbing proportionally?
No.
We must discern between cases and deaths.
Many people get it and aren't even aware. Take the Leicester Uni example. 770 students tested positive, and only 68 of them actually felt anything.
How many of them died? I believe none, but I tried to look this fact up, and got to this site. Very interesting. Find the word 'death' here. Good luck.

Nobody will be "made" to take it, we'll all be encouraged to though. You're right though it is hitting the elderly and unhealthy hardest but it is also randomly taking fairly healthy and young victims too although in the minority. We have to ask ourselves though if left unchecked to run through the population what would the cost be.
I dont think any leader of any country wants to see the death toll thats possible or the the economic devastation its currently and I dont think theyre all in the pockets of pharmaceutical giants. Its just a s**t situation with no easy out

Absolute rubbish....sorry not being personal to you but your post is just that. You obvs have zero idea of how this virus affects the over 30’s and middle aged that contribute most to the economy. I have two friends that are 42 and 48 and are still suffering after contracting it in May....one is barely able to function on a normal level she’s got it so badly. They are just two examples, the country is not short of people that are suffering to a hell of a degree. You’re entitled to your opinion of course but to say this vaccine stinks is just the kind of backwards doom and gloom that the gutter press prey on. Your previous post regarding the vaccines taking 10yrs shows a complete lack of any understanding.

I don’t mean anything personal, I’m sure you’re a fine chap.

Infection rates rise and so do deaths, plus go into any intensive care and you will see people in their 20's, 30's etc who are perfectly healthy suffering from this crap disease, yes it hits the elderly worse, people with underlying health issues more often than not but you can't afford to take that risk asuming younger people are immune or less likely to suffer.

On top of that, although people might not die they might still end up in intensive care swamping the NHS as the rates go up.

Have you read that whole article sire...? It really doesn’t have much to do with developed countries taking on the virus....third world countries rarely, as far as I know, have the capacity to store huge amounts of vaccine at -60-80 Celsius, let alone develop it. That’s a very poor article to base a western viewpoint on. Third world countries aren’t going to banish this thing unfortunately, but I truly hope they benefit just as much as any other country.

What have 3 idiots on a car show got to do with a pharmaceutical corporation having 1000's of lawsuits issued against them and having to pay out a couple of billion $ to to victims from all over the world?

Pfizer is an American company....do I have to explain the lawsuit culture there...?
