Initial driving hints

Big worry for me leading 30 Z4s at the weekend knowing that you have 2.0 litres up to 3.4 litres and drivers of widely differing experience and ability. Judging the best pace to set on public roads is always difficult but too slow is always better than the alternative!

Split your party into smaller groups, each with a more experienced leader and rear and set off at intervals to avoid a 30 car convoy.

Where's the fun in that? Seriously we considered that but struggled getting people who would lead a group.

DSC ON would have saved the car..But what would he have learned then,nothing...

So wouldn't he have been better off learning in a safer environment with plenty of run-off rather than having to find out the hard way, with added risk to others thrown in?

Of course....But you will never stop people.. He is nowhere near good enough to slide a 350bhp car up tight mountain roads......No amount of sliding around an empty track would teach him that!!

Bad driving will always result in tears whether you have DSC on or off..

True. He must have thought he was a good enough driver though to play without the DSC, recording it on video and with a G-force data recorder on the dash(?), as I'm sure all others do who think they are good enough to turn it off on public roads, where there's little room for error.

saskia, like you a new m coupe owner, i find the z a bit of a handfull in slow traffic with the "mickey mouse" clutch and the" did they forget to fill the gearbox with oil" first to second shift, but get out of town on a smoothe a or b road with a mixture of fast straights and twisties and you realise what the car is all about , i'd sooner live with the downsides and experience the thrilling upsides than conform and drive a souless, over sanitized daily driver . even if the numpties in government deem that we should pay 475 quid tax on a hobby car that does 3 to 4 k a year when a little diesel paying 35 quid a year but does 30,ooo k a year is deemed "green" and somehow less polluting, you've got me started now !!! need to go for a drive !

the video was hilarious.... the tow rope is in the boot!!! HEEELLLLOOOOOOO!!!

car looked gorgeous as well..... incidently... these cars will bite!!! i lost the rear end doing 75mph at the follow through @ curborough with a spectator in the car!!!! luckily kept it on the tarmac but seriously made me slow down that day.... As i get to fradly hairpin you can hear the flair of revs as the car roasts its tyres..... DSC off + 500+ bhp = potential death....

the z4m in general really isnt a car to take the piss with..... you will loose it unless your confident....
