owner says drivers window not working properly seems to be out of line, but is not affecting roof operation.

safe to buy or avoid?

Could be the window regulator, could be worse. Some more details will help.

Ask the seller if he's had the problem diagnosed. Or even better, ask the seller to fix it before you buy it?

Agree or get the seller to drop the price a tad.

+1. What is it that's seems to be the problem, is the window stuck down or up etc?

just the window is closed and seems to be out of line, but if its not affecting the roof cant be serous can it?

Could just be that it isn,t auto dropping to allow for closing up into the seal ? Reset linky,s are on here somewhere , i know cause i used it myself once & it worked a treat

Interesting point mr wilks.

Is window closed completely? Reason I'm asking is with it being winter, if car parked outside you probably don't want water getting in?

If the seller tells you its an easy fix or is cheap to repair, then my first question is always why they haven't done it then

Maybe they don,t know the window reset secret ?
From memory it was ignition to first notch (or 2nd ?) then wind window right down & hold / then window right up & hold / window down again & bingobango :) no need for trip to garage

If it is the regulator I think your looking at aprox £120-150 for the part and allow 2 hours labour at £60-70 hour. So worst case would be £290. Could try knocking that off the price of the car!?

Cheaper alternatives are fitting the regulator yourself, or if it's a broken cable you can buy kits for £25 and DIY.

thanks chaps, i cant get any more info over the phone, the lady dont know anything, im gonna have a view, said its not affecting the hood, so would it be safe to say worst case gonna do me for about 350 sheets?

its silver, 3.0 auto, heated seats, epiloids, sat nav, 67000 miles, up for £5000 which i gather is well priced.

its weird cause i wanted black, but after viewing a few im finding black looks best in pics and silver better in person lol.

If it's black you want I would hold out. I did and it's worth waiting for the right one. I wanted black and considered a couple of silver and grey options. But after finding and buying a black one I can say I'm pleased I did. But it's all a matter of opinion as I'm about to find out.

well i viewed it, window just stayed up without moving, but roof clicked on way down and did not sit to flush to body as it should, and roof light flashed at one point also. so i left it, the search goes on.

....very sensible

how much could this cost at worse? roof did go up and down, but on way down it jumped like it got caught and as i say did not go as low down as it should.

Worse case scenario cost?

£1000 ?

any feedback asap

thanks

well ive viewed a few and never noticed it, but this one jumped on way down and did not sit flush with rear of car, Im starting to reconsider my choice of car as most ive viewed have had one issue or another, and i really dont want a headache car.

He will lower price, But i just dont want all the stress of getting it sorted and worrying about it going again etc.

I want a zed but something now is telling me to stear clear.

Follow your heart-there will always be another.

Probably a new window regulator required, it will fail and you better hope it's closed when it does ;)

I couldn't find they invoice for my old Z4 but believe it was 2-300 from a main dealer.
