Hello, could someone please tell me the bhp of a 2006-2007 2.5ltr? Is there just two options 208bhp and 218bhp,how can i tell the difference? Thank you for any advice.

Have finally fingers crossed sold my Type-R and took a z4 2.5 se out the weekend, nice drive and sounds lovely.
But is the 2.5 si(218 bhp) miles better than the 2.5 se(177bhp)???????
Is there a huge differance in the price of insurance as far as I can see there both group 18?
Any advice is more than welcome

I test drove both and the Si was miles better, the 2.5i feels a bit flat when accelerating. Though I must admit I wasn't aware of the difference till the test drive Happy hunting, and both are the same insurance group as in expensive :D

Yep pre-facelift is 192, then for some reason there is such a big power difference between the two N52 engines, never understood that, or why two engines were needed.

It's simply marketing to better justify the higher trim line. They are actually the same engine, the difference is in the intake and exhaust, and perhaps the ECU. It greatly bothers me to have an intentionally crippled engine, so I 'had' to go with the more powerful or least crippled engine. I guess marketing works, at least on me.

I have a 2.5i se which is 190 bhp. Will changes to the exhaust etc increase the bhp?

Changes to the exhaust alone won't make any difference, could even lose some horses depending on the mod

Just to avoid any confusion OP, I would guess you may have a pre-facelift (03/04/05) with what has been described as 192 bhp - they have an M54 engine.

When the facelift came along in 06 they all got an N52 engine, the 2.5i with 177 bhp (I'm guessing this was to replace the 2.2 offered in the pre-facelift) and the Si with 218 bhp that probably had different intake/exhaust/ECU to the N52 2.5i.

A quick way to find out is to look for a dipstick - if you have one it is a pre-facelift with the M54 engine. In that case to get 218 bhp your starting point is probably to change the engine for an N52 Si. (Or an M54 3 litre for 231 bhp)!
