INFO: DICE Silverline and an IPOD Touch

As per title.

My old Ipod Nano V3 croaked it last week so thought I'd go for a Touch this time. Loaded the thing with songs, connected it to the Dice and it works, only problem being I have to detach it and reattach it everytime I turn the ignition back on! :poke:

Think this may be related to the software hold on the Touch as oppose to hardware hold on the Nano. :!:

I've searched DICE's website and it states the Touch is fully supported by the Silverline so at a bit of a loss to undertand the problem and if it is possible to change a setting on the DICE or the Touch its self to rectify the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Cheers in advance.

Upon researching the abovesaid issue it turns out the current IPOD touch will not charge from the silverline without an additional USB power source.

Whilst it will connect and play as usual the charge function is disabled and the IPOD must be reattached each and every time you turn the ignition off.

I intend to reposition the DICE unit into the seat bulkhead cubby hole and then take it out each night for charging. Pain, yes, but I'd rather have a touch for the additional £40 over and about the nano as it can surf the web from any unsecured WIFI spot with Safari, very useful on motorway services offering free internet access!

Have you looked into getting a Scosche passPORT?

It does the necessary wire routing to allow charging of the Ipod Touch or iPhone in the car. I'm sure that there are similar products available.
