Infamous DSC/handbrake light

Diagnosis has identified the culprit to be No 2 Sensor - the back one that comes out of the master cylinder - have got car booked in for next week - cost of part £133 plus fitting :( Ever the pessimist I can see a scenario of getting this fitted and light still on  my logic tells me if I disconnect the black electrical switch that's attached to this sensor and turn on the ignition the light should go out and then clean up connection and reconnect I might be lucky and it was just a bad connection after all and light goes off or will still stay on as before but I'm not any worse off - am I talking bollocks or is it worth a try before I shell out £200 . If worth trying how do you disconnect the switch - just pull ,push , whack with a hammer ????????????.
