Induction or not Induction...

Hello all,

I have pulled the trigger on an eisenmann race exhaust, it’s will arrive in 2-3 weeks and I’m very excited! The look of the pipes and the noise are the attraction for me. I’m keeping the stock boxes just in case I ever decide to sell and want to put back to stock, (unlikely!)

I am also considering an induction kit, based on hearing a couple at ZedFest either Gruppe M or Eventuri, does anyone have an opinion on this, good or bad they’d like to share?

I realise performance impact is minimal, but the look under the bonnet and the sound are quite attractive...

Let the discussion commence!

You should have gone for the induction first , 2 very different aural experience between exhaust to induction & for me looking back over my 3 x ZMs whilst i modded all 3 backboxes i much preferred the noise with just Gruppe M fitted .
The last car i changed backboxes more from a visual preference as i was keen not to spoil the noise from up front .

I’m with mr Wilks. I’ve gone back to std boxes with my GruppeM, just fitted bigger tips.

I ran the same back boxes with the eventuri, it's a great combo and genuinely not that OTT at all, in the end I slapped in some supersprint decats and now it sounds :evil:

I’m pretty new to all this, what would you describe as the difference in the noise front vs back? I was driving behind an M with Eisenmann exhaust and Eventuri and got this lovely high pitched racing noise under relatively high revs... not like a boy racer “big bore” exhaust but how a real performance car sounds. Was that the induction or the exhaust? I can’t get the sense of it from YouTube...!

It doesn't take much of a exhaust change to drown out any induction noise , of the two all i can say is i preferred the latter .
WIth a S54 the mechanical roar from the front when under load is part of the ownership pleasure , add the GruppeM then its heightened measurably but in a tasteful way , at no time intrusive as with virtually all aftermarket boxes

This vid captures the basic difference in tone, albeit with a fairly extreme flavour of each - CSL airbox (with bonnet vents!) plus RPI backboxes.

It’s quite similar to human biology - chatty up front and farty out the back.

A great description :rofl:

And Great video! Thanks this helps a lot. I’ll get the exhaust on as it’s paid for and see how I go

Here's a link to a post a put up a while back, there's a link in it to a video of a drive by of my Gruppe M;
