Induction Kits

Hi there

I just bought an 03 plate 2.5 Litre over the weekend, I am keen to get an induction kit on it, does anyone know who makes the best one and where to get it from, i looked on demon tweeks etc but doesnt seem to be one...apart from a panel filter...!

The BMW induction system is very effective as standard and will flow up to 450hp (according to ESS) without any modifications. If you fit a cone filter under the bonnet you will loose power because you've lost the ramair system plus you will draw warmer air from the engine bay. The best way to improve airflow is to fit a good panel filter such as K&N or Helene and improve the intake scoop for the ramair behind the grill such as the RPI unit discussed on this forum recently. If that's not bling or loud enough then GruppeM make very top end intakes which retain the ramair system. I can't vouch for any others because I havn't tried them.

I've got the GruppeM one fitted to my 3.0Si, lovely piece of kit, not too noisey and makes the car feel like it has a bit more sparkle. Not cheap though

does the gurppe M make good noise?

Lovely sound, I tried to remove the foam from the sound gen and it sounded awful to my ears.

The GruppeM makes the car feel a little more lively and the noise it makes is more akin ti the M3 CSL. It's nice and quite in normal driving but has that edge when your giving it some beans. Perfect!

x2 the gruppe m. felt a bit pokier also but sounds great, if you want it louder remove on of the foams in the resonator as i have and its great.
