Induction Kit MAF Question

Hi guys,

Hope you're all doing grand! Bit chilly for the top down

I've got a quick question regarding induction kits. The MAF sensor sits on the piping of the airbox itself so would have to be detached if replacing for a cone filter kit.

I'm sorry if this is a very newbie one, but how would I go about making sure the MAF is included into the induction kit?

You just leave it tied up in the engine bay ..connected..

IMHO you would be better off with just a clean decent paper filter in the stock airbox..

I think you'd be setting yourself up with more problems.

A few people have looked at doing this and the consensus is that the stock bmw airbox is better than the aftermarket hobbies. The "oil able" K&N panel filters aren't as good as a decent quality paper filter (according to my indy) they either don't filter well enough or end up over oiled.

Cone filters look nicer but the results don't seem to support the swap

They also draw warmer (less dense) air from the engine bay as opposed from external air via the original ducting

I run an inline cone filter with the MAF inline also. The inline cone filter is fed cold air from 2 x 2.5 inch air intakes in the main bumper which feed the inline cone via a 3 inch stainless steel pipe running in front of the radiator across the top. I did research cone filters and i agree with most that the normal air setup is more than adequate for most z's however my Z is a bit on the extreme side of things.
