Induction Kit - anybody tried?

Hey everyone, I am planning a service on my Zed an started looking into Air Filters, I came across this Induction Kit:

I'm wondering if anybody has tried this yet and what your opinion is of it? Does it improve the sound? Does it improve performance? ...and most importantly, are there any potential negative side affects of installing one? (I'm running a 2003 2.5)

These are always going to have people sitting on the fence with them. I'm going to give you the pros and cons from the majority of research you'll end up finding on the web anyway.

a) If you buy this cone filter and install it as it is you will see a negative effect on your hp because there is no heat shield stopping the engine bay warm air from being sucked into your air filter thus hindering performance. If you want to go down this route then you will need to purchase a separate heat shield which goes around the cone thus allowing only cold air to be taken in by the filter... any hp gains you will get will be minimal at best and only apparent in the high end RPM's.

b) For sound you're best off investing in a Gruppe M air filter which does the same job but better and if you do a forum search will find users who have had these installed and dyno'd and found a 3-4hp increase.

c) I have gone the way of installing a new K&N pannel filter... not the cone version you have shown above. The pannel filter comes with all the benefits of a free-er flowing air system without altering the OEM air box and gives a decent sound increase too at 3k+ RPM.

Have you installed this on a 2.5 Zed?

Got it from ebay new... search and ye will find.

Installed on a 2.2 but the airbox is identical.
