How much does your indie charge per hour?
I'm using a BMW / Mini Specialist -time served ex BMW engineers, charging £50 per hour (inc. VAT)

£25-£60/hour depending which indy and for what car

£25 for Alfa indy working from his home garage
£50 for 'far away' specialist (although I get free overnight accommodation)
£70 for local BMW specialist (with coffee, reception area, courtesy car, etc.)

£40 per hour. BMW specialist, but does all our cars. Good on parts pricing too, tends to be less than I can buy for, offen fitted.

I use different garages for different things and supply any parts / servicing parts myself to keep the costs down. Always give them the chance to better the prices though.

Suspension, alignment and tyres in one garage. £65 per hour.
Servicing in another. £25 per hour.
Interior cleaning at one of the local detailers usually around £30 - 40 for the cleaning.

It's a engineer/mechanic who I've become friends with after about a decade of him being close to work in London.

He moved to Devon/Cornwall border so I thought I'd have to stop using him, but he's converted one of the outbuildings to a holiday rental, so I'm free to use it when I take the car down there.

I try to make it worth his while by getting a few smaller things done along with something major. For example, he'll do my pre-Ring inspection/alignment/brake pads/service/etc. and will also do an Insp.II every year (for not much more than the Insp.I, so might as well do the big one) and a suspension service at the same time.

He's got a few e34 M5s and a R33 GT-R - and has rebuilt all of them. He's also an ex- Aston and Cosworth calibration engineer and road tester...and has a few more Ring laps than me...so acts as personal Ring instructor.

That sounds sweet. It’s good when things align like that. Looking to go back out to the ring this year again but the first time in the ///m

By the hour!!!! WTF

I normally ask how much for the job(s) & agree the price for that in their appointment book.

If they were to find something, make a decision over cost at the time if something u can do yourself or if the price with the car on the ramp can be sorted for a good price
