Well after sorting the crap aftermarket headlights out and the rats nest of wiring issues to them I have them all working except the indicators now flash at double speed WTF :headbang: Its as if you have a bulb out but they’re all working? The other thing is when you you use the hazard switch they flash at normal speed :!:
Any ideas guys????

well i have navcoder which can turn off checking the lights when warm or cold which might sort your problem out if you fancy a drive over to Shepshed, Leicestershire.

I do still have a warning light on? Thank you for the offer will let you know cheers

Are your lights Sonar 2xcite ? If so then I have had similar problems with mine in the past. Check the indicator bulbs in their holders and/or the multi pin connector block that connects the light unit to the original BMW block/loom. I opened the block and then pryed open the pins a little so they are a tighter fit in their relative female sleeve. After putting the blocks back together and making sure everything worked I wrapped/waterproofed the blocks with loads of insulation tape. They've been fine for 2 years now

The word Sonar is moulded into the lower edge of the front lens.
My hazards worked fine also but the drivers side indicator had a mind of its own. Just saying what resolved the issue for me

Yep look like the first one they are crap!

The indicators have standard 382 orange bulbs in, 21w so shouldn't need a resistor?

Standard front headlight indicators have two bulbs in each.
Ah do they ..............so wonder why they worked before with these headlights  must be missing something

Well stumped a bit now added a resistor that we put on motorcycles when you fit led indicators no difference so just added another 21w bulb to the circuit as well as resistor still the same 😳

Well emailed Sonar 2xcite not much help asked if they had a wiring diagram for the headlights....No?? Really!
Tried various different wattage bulbs added bulbs in series, resistors all with no difference :headbang:
Any help ideas would be appreciated as spoke to my MOT garage and he said it would be a failure come MOT time

There is a resistor in the box at the bottom, you'll need to put a multimeter across it. Unless there is a break in the circuit I can't think of any other reason. Is it both sides that double flash when using the stalk or just one side?

The only other way I can think to check would be to turn off the bulb checks and see if that cures it. Would also solve the MOT issue, though if they flash at between 60 and 120 per minute and there is no dash warning on then they should pass, and even a Minor isn't a fail:

4.4.4 Flashing frequency
Indicators must flash at between 60 and 120 times per minute. Semaphore type direction indicators don't need to flash.
Defect
Category
Rate of flashing not between 60 and 120 times per minute
Minor

Yes both side double flash from stalk, i would say these are over the 120!

Where do i turn off bulb checks?

Cheers

Have carly no faults showing but bulb light lit on dashboard, over 120 is a fail but that aside i dont like them like that so need to get them sorted somehow. :(

As I've quoted, a minor defect is not a fail.

So the car is detecting an indicator bulb fault (you've said on both sides). Not used Carly but there will be the option to turn off front indicator checks, I just can't say how.
