looking for a well respected independant garage to service my M coupe, i live near Milton Keynes so pref around that area but could stretch to Birmingham or London if need be
its only the oil change and i know i could go to most garages or even do it myself but i want to keep the book stamped with either dealer or respected independant garages

aplha i cant recommend simpson motorsport enough tbh...... they make the dealers look like stupid ass's.i leave my car their and genuinely forget its their, i dont even worry in the slightest, honest, hardworking, and genuine integrity.... my type of people.... i WILL only EVER take my car to simpson,,..... they do a shim check on my car @ every service including oil services, awesome people..

200 mile round trip, bit excessive for an oil change but might be worth it just to build up a good relationship for the type 2 service when its due
its probably be around £50 in petrol of perhapse more looking at the route it looks a good one

I would highly recommend Evolve, not far away as MK side of Luton. Had my inspection 2done there a couple of weeks ago at £600 all in. Excellent service.

Ok just a follow up
Phoned around and for just the oil change I had £186 from BMW to £120 from a local "specialist" who I didn't know and didn't like the look of, Evolve didn't phone back as promised
So I let BMW do it, they phoned me up to say they should change brake fluid as well taking the total cost to £330 with discount, I told them not to bother £144 for a change of brake fluid are they insane

To cap it off they delivered it back without washing it, they are now collecting the car on Friday to wash it
I can see why a main dealer would ask £180 for an oil change it needs to be loaded onto the ramps checked over etc but once it's sat on the ramps and with the correct tools it's not more than 30 mins work to change fluid.
This is my first service with BMW and I'm less than impressed

I'd be very wary of BMW washing your car, it's likely to come back with a few new swirls/scratches. Last time I asked them not to wash it, they replied "that's ok sir, we use a special chamois" :?

Do your own brake fluid service, it'll only take an hour and a half with the help of a friend and should cost less than £20. I imagine you're paying for 2 staff at 1 hour labour per staff member.

£180 for an oil service is a decent price by BMW standards and why you would want them to wash your pride and joy with a gritty sponge I can't imagine. The brake fluid change is a bit dear though, I've paid about £80 in the past.

i do my brake fluid changes yearly myself and log in my service book... i also attach the recipts for the parts.

it literally takes me an hour and i think 35quid for fluid. job done.

I usually do all my servicing for the small service jobs but wanted the car to go to main dealer for a quick once over, I fully intend to do the brakes myself, whilst looking into vacuum bleeders I came across speed bleeders, never seen em before but they look like a good idea
Anybody know what thread size the bleed nipples are?
