Just saw this shocking dash cam footage on YouTube.

What is going on with the worlds aircraft at the moment? Poor people on board - horrific!

I agree but disattaching yourself from the human aspect of the tragedy, it's not something you see everyday. Just like seeing a boxer being knocked out, a formula 1 in a serious crash, or indeed us all watching the recent published footage of the Lamborghini 200mph crash.

That's human nature I guess.

It's probably not the case, but the pilot looks like he is trying to miss the vehicle taking the footage, and overcooks the correction. Not that it would have made a difference

Bad day at work and for those on board, very lucky escape for some. This could have happened anywhere though, having heard the tower recording the aircraft called a mayday with an engine failure. The radar trace looks like he's trying to find a clear area to stuff it; from the video it looks like he has stretched the glide to miss the buildings and road, left engine isn't fully feathered but clearly not producing power leading to a stall/wing drop, you can't roll them that quick - it was out of control a good couple of seconds prior to hitting the freeway. Lucky it just clipped it instead of hitting square, that would have been game over for all.
