Apparently, if you hold it up to your head, the radio waves resonate through your brain cavity, increasing the range and frequency of the transmitted radio waves to your vehicle in such a way that allows you to use your key fob whilst standing further away and at a greater distance than would normally be the case. It must be true, I heard it on Radio 5.

The range will also depend on the cubic volume of ones brain cavity, the smaller the volume, the greater the range. :crazydude:
I use that trick. My Dad used to do it years ago. Great for when you've got a walk to the car and can have the roof down by the time your there 
Not sure how good it is for your brain but so far I don't seem to have lost any of the useless information I seem to hold on my brain. Maybe that's why my Dad showed me it, in the hope the constant car talk would stop

Absolutely, an old one this. Does work though and I use it frequently as the range to the Coupe is otherwise about 2m on a good day, or about 1' on a bad one.
Have to admit I was highly skeptical of this old saw, as water is a great absorber of RF radiation, but someone posted the science behind it, and I have tested it myself with a key fob for another car (my z4 has good range) and it does work. As mentioned though, choose where you are when you do this unless you want strange looks from people wondering why you're holding a key to your chin :crazydude:
