Increase ground clearance

Soon after I bought my g29, I realised that the ground clearance of the car is too low for my garage. There is a sloping path in front of my garage. I could drive up but cannot go down as the front lip will touch the ground. :headbang: :headbang:

I heard two different advices from BMW. The first one is to use a bilstein height adjustable damper. But BM warned me that I will lose my warranty if I change the damper.

The other option is to use another tyre. I am using front 225/45/ZR18 & rear 255/40/ZR18 now. And could change to Front: 255/40 ZR18 & Rear: 275/40 ZR18.

Not sure which one should I go for. But my intuition goes for the damper option. Any view on these 2 advices?
 
Personally I'd go with aftermarket suspension, but not Bilstein.

I'd speak to KW about a V3 kit with an HLS (hydraulic lift system) system which would allow you to lift the car when parking (or getting over any other obstacles).
 
I must say that I've had the odd mild scrape in my G29 Sport when going over speed bumps etc which never caused an issue with my previous E89's with MSport suspension. I found this a bit odd but nothing I can't deal with by being a bit more careful :)

Ron's suggestion of reversing your direction sounds worth a try.
 
I am waiting on my Sport coming but took a used one home to try in my garage. The rubber flap in front of front wheel would touch but when I tried reversing in absolutely no problem. Hope you get sorted.👍
 
Have you tried making a ramp to reduce the angle. The neighbour across from me has always used two lengths of wood when moving his car in and out of the garage. Blue Nissan 350Z, weekend toy. As did the guy who owned the house previously. Who coincidentally also owned a Blue 350Z, from new and ran it as a daily driver.
 
You could always ask a builder to look at the problem. A bit of additional earthworks or an excavation to form a permanent solution to the problem might be better if you you intend to stay there.

The dampers themselves have a very good reputation due to their stainless steel construction. The HLS setup has been around for at least 12 years so would hope they've got on top of any reliability issues by now.
 
I had the same problem with my last z4.To get around the problem I bought a couple of those thick outdoor mats and placed them at the front of the wheels.Worked for me.
