Inconsistent Servicing Costs?

Coming up to the 2nd service on the Z, its just coming up to 57k on the clocks and is the first service i have had to do (aside from oil's) since I bought the car (got them to do a service before I picked it up :) )

I phoned up the local dealer (Sytner) and they want £360 quid for the service - oddly the same dealer network in a city 15 miles away from the other wanted £409 but due to the age and the fact it has FSH said they could drop it to £354 - it also needs a brake fluid flush apparently - £71 at one and £85 at the other - they are the SAME network just 15 miles apart...sometimes one is cheaper than the other but they are never the same...

One of them did call back, the best price for the two jobs was £384 for the service and the brake fluid flush (a discount of £47)

The reason for the post? Well the dealer network has a price match promise with any local BMW specialist or Dealer - if I find it cheaper they will match it - So I'm testing them on it - £260 is the local quote...will they match I wonder...

It may not apply but if the car is 6 years old then you can get 20% discount on labour and 10% on parts. Some of these figures may have that in but worth asking and checking

I think thats where one went from £409 down to £354 - I'm still holding out hope they match the £260, to be fair they said they would call back in 30 mins, 3 hrs later and I had had time to research and she sounded fed up I countered her 'offer'

I was getting quotes of over £400 too. Rang 4 localish garages too.

Ended up going to a BMW specialist just down the road from me for £230 with a brake fluid change :)

Think the service was about £210, then any other work that may need doing on the car (eg brakes, pads etc) they will only change you parts and no labour costs if you have it done at the same time which is quite handy if your looking for a change. Was told to use them by a family friend who used to work for BMW for quite a long time. I can get the reciept if you want exact prices my memory is pretty **** :P

I was just happy to use someone that knew what they were talking about, I had to argue with BMW about my car needing an Inspection rather than an Oil service  . No doubt if I'd have supplied my own oil I could have got it a little cheaper too. Think its £40inc VAT for 4l of Castrol Edge at Makro at the moment.

Well it seems as Sytner just can't be bothered with me anymore, having not called me back - gonna have a rant at them later when i have the time..
