In the Pursuit of Dual Exhaust

Hi to all,
In my pursuit of dual exhaust, I inquired on the Supersprint dual exhaust conversion for the Z4 (Non-M) . Jonathan Daniels of BMP Design said:

“We can get this but it will not fit a US Model Car, there is interference from some emissions components hanging off of the gas-tank that are not installed on Euro Cars...”

So I am down to the Eisenmann, dual exhaust conversion. I have seen a few threads on reviews from actual owners, and they are all good. So before I spend the +$2,000, has anybody installed the Eisenmann dual exhaust on a US specs Z4 (Non-M)? Does anybody think I would have the same problems as with the claimed by BMP with the Supersprint?

Thanks for the help!

HOW MUCH :o

For no performance gains I would keep that in my pocket. If you want dual exhasut go the custom route, someone will build you one for half the cost.

I just bought a used 2005 Z4 with the Eisenmann dual set up. Being the second owner who didn't install the system I can't give you any installation advice, but I can say I really like the set up. The only problem I've found with my set up is whoever did the install did not properly heat shield around it and I need to have some additional shielding installed. Other than that I think it's a great set up. My car is Canadian, but it was US built, I don't know if there are any significant differences between US & Canadian spec vehicle with respect to the install. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info.

i dont think this is worth doing- the way money is going you could cost to change of 2000 into a more pwerful Z!

After some further research, neither system is advisable for the US spec Z4 (non-M). It is not advisable because of the gas emission components located in the right side heat in that area. It (the emission component) would have to be relocated.

So daveysew, is right about fitting his system with an additional heat shield. Bottom line, I am sticking to the Supersprint single exhaust and fitting a cosmetic “dual exhaust” to fill out the new rear bumper.

Other than that my little project is moving along great, here are some pics:

Wouldn't do it unless you live somewhere warm all year round. It looks stupid & screams poser when smoke's coming out on one side but not the other side during the winter.

What did you do to the rear bumper cover as it's difficult to tell from the photograph angle?

Did you take a standard bumper and cut out an extra exhaust exit on the right? If so what have you used to rebuild, bond and profile?

On the exhaust have you looked at the version FemmT made whereby he simply ran a second pipe T'd off the normal back box. That might fit

I live in 80 degree weather year round, so winter is not a problem for posing(For the record not proud of being a poser :( ). I had the body shop install an M rear bumper grill and a right cut out on the standard bumper. As far as the materials, I would have to ask the body shop. And yes Femm T's second pipe set up gave me a few ideas on how to do the set up.

OK - cheers I'll do a bit of investigating on that option to see if I can do some cutting and changing to a standard bumper and it have original durability :)
