In search of a service history....

I bought my Z4 with no service history… which was risky, The car was advertised as having no service history and was suitably priced. I took a gamble…

The time has come to get a service, although I don’t know if it’s a inspection 1 or 2, so off I trotted to the local BMW garage to see if they could tell me.

Unfortunately they couldn’t but gave me a number to call to find out all the details any history if it was serviced by a main dealer.

I called the number and with one minute I had found out that since new it had been serviced at Stratstones of Leeds 4 times, and then at Sandals of Wakefield another 3 times.

Looks like despite a very shakey start of Z ownership, I may have acquired a free service history! Haha!

Someone here will know more than I, but I think if you contact the Garages mentioned, you can buy a replacement service book and they will stamp it up for you. :|

Yep, that's right

You can buy a BMW service book on Ebay for a few £'s.

Should be easy enough to simply fill in the cover pages and post it to each of the garages to fill in, stamp up and print out copies of service sheets.

Yeh that's the plan, although the first garage has 'had a computer upgrade' in 2005 and all records were deleted.. going to have to go back to service HQ to sort this one!

Ill have a look for the MOT stuff on line, I didn't know you could do that!

Thanks

Only the dealer can stamp the book, the BMW Customer Service team cannot.

You may also find (as I did) that some of the dealerships no longer exist, or have changed hands, and will not stamp your service history.

It feels like there's been a lot of bad stories on here of late so it's great to hear some positive news! Good luck in getting the replacement, stamped service book ;)

I had some missing service stamps redone on a previous car. Just showed them the receipts and the garage(s) were more than happy to stamp up the book...

Sorry if I'm missing something here but what number did you actually call? I have a similar problem.

Thanks

By any chance could you pm me the number you rang?

The girlfriends 1 series was sold with full service history apparently, then when we picked up the car the service book went missing so id like to get all the stamps back in a new one if i can find where they were done

cheers!

I did the exact same thing when I was looking at buying my Z4. The first owner lost the service book(!), so service history only existed from 40k miles onward. Now I probably would have taken the punt anyway - assuming that anyone buying a brand new car surely has the resources to get the thing serviced, if only to keep the warranty intact - but a couple of phone calls later and I had the confirmation that it had FSH.

Hi,

My service history book was missing as well when I bought my car but I knew it did have a full history.

Cant remember the number off hand but if you contact BMW, they will give you a number and when you call them, they will be able to tell you what dates it went to a BMW dealer. From then you need to contact each dealer and verify what work they carried out.

Replacement servcie books are cheap so you then get one and send off to each dealer to re-stamp. Be warned theough the BMW Sevcie Line number cots £1.00 per minuite.
