...the answer is yes! You can fit 4x 30kg Cisco 4503 switches in a Z4 Coupe...

Now you can't do that in a Roadster (when it's raining) ;)

Looks more like 10% switch and 90% power supply!

Why are they so big? Are the massive PSUs to provide extra oomph for POE?

With that lot in your car you've just doubled the value ;)
 
Great packing... But tbh, they're not above the top of the boot liner, so with the 'parcel shelf' up in a roadster you'd probably get them in with some care :D

Nope they're just very very old! No PoE either. Did a swap out over the last two days, so these babies have been in the car from Glasgow, then Edinburgh to Birmingham.
 
i think you've forgotten that a roadster has infinite headroom, so yes, it's quite possible to fit those in easily.
 
According to Moore's Law (if it extends to switches), you probably used your glove box to transport the replacement to site then! :)

Haha good to know although I've not had any such large switches in my zed, my compact and scirocco did ferry a fair few HP and Dell servers about .. as well as smaller switches.

It's worth saying that this thread is actually a self-vindication for buying the Zed. I decided that I wasn't having enough fun in the 1 series and the MX-5 isn't reliable enough to use as a daily drive. I traded the 1 series in and the MX-5 will be sold as soon as it passes it's MOT.

Bearing in mind that I get a car allowance it was a bit of a risk to go for the Zed only considering I do have to lug this stuff about a bit. it's fun to have a pop at the Roadsters but the moral of this story is that the Zed's are incredibly practical cars given what they are.

One happy man (Probably with broken springs now though).
 
You can always have a bit of banter on here,roadsters and coupes.I wanted to pick up some wheels with tyres last year and if I had a coupe they maybe would have fitted in,but ended up using my brothers ford puma because I couldn't get them in my roadster.My car has been practical so far.How often do they need to be practical. :driving:
 
Loving the use of space! I was about to ask why but then read the bit about the car allowance and genuinely laughed. "Yes boss, it'll all fit no worries, honest"
 
Do you drive everywhere in pants? Only your clothes seem to be scattered around the inside of the car :D

This was an improvised method of ensuring the sharp metal edges didn't damage the seats. I can confirm that pants were used for this.
