Four weeks ago my 04, 3.0, Z4, steptronic with 152K miles got totaled by the insurance company, We did not get hurt. Coming down the freeway at 65 mph, we had a flatbed truck change lanes in front of us and take a bump as he got in front of us. Here came a bunch of trash off the truck. A home satellite dish mount hit the front bumper and I then ran over the same. This was a 6" x 11'x 5" bracket, weighing about 4 pounds. Damage to headlight, cracked the drivers side front rim, ate up the tire as the bracket made it around the front wheel twice before shooting under the car, tearing up the undercarriage, from the drivers wheel well all the way to the tail pipes. We were on two wheels when the bracket lifted the drivers side of the car. No other cars hit and the Z behind us was not harmed. The car was still drivable. Made it to the side of the road under power. The brake lines were pinched and the ECU box had a hole in it, the exhaust was bent to heck, gas tank had a dimple in it, the drivers side floor board was raised 2", from the dead peddle to the seat. Insurance said 12k on the low side to repair, no body panels was damaged. Six year old car with 152k, it did not take much to be totaled.

The hunt for a replacement started. Insurance papers filled out and sent in, waiting for a check.

Now 4 weeks later ( going through withdraws ) we found and purchased a 2006 3.0 SI roadster, Premium, sport, and comfort packages, steptronic with paddle shifters. The car still has 4 months of warranty. The same color as before TSM so all the neighbors thinks it is the same car. Robyn was not going to shift, so the ///M was not an option. We got the car last Friday the 19th. I have had new rims chromed and new shoes put on them and am in the process of redoing the mods and getting the paint up to spec. The car was parked outside all the time and the paint still needs more work at this time.

He are some pics of the new ( new to us ) IMZ4N. The updated and more powerful.

Robyn has a smile on her face and I am very pleased with the upgrade.

I'm really pleased to see everything is sorted and you're back in a Zed :D

Thank you all for the kind words. Chrome wheels are a old school thing and I am surely that. lol The brake dust just falls right off of them. We looked for a different color, and did not find one with the options we wanted, In our search we did find a Olive Metallic Pearl Beige , however the car was in poor repair.

We have only really had the car out once since the 19th. We are looking forward to getting out once again. I think We will have some good memories to come and are just a bit eager to get started. I'm working on the paint. doing touch up and getting the surface soothe. The car was never in a garage and had lots of oxidation on the paint. Nothing that a bit of time and effort can not fix. Installing my Reinhold module and bits on the inside.

Good to hear that you're back behind the wheel. So is it you or Robyn who likes those chrome wheels? :poke:

It's me, Robyn is younger than I. If the car is clean and has gas and oil and a automatic is is fine with her. TSM does just not have the bling of a dark color and needs some sparkle IMHO. The wheels clean real easy when chromed. There are no small areas to clean on that style either, a +.

I never realized how much the car is part of our life. Four weeks without it was hell. I can't even imagine what those in snow areas go through when they put the car away for the winter. Thank God for SoCal weather,LOL

Glad to hear your sorted and good to go. I must confess though, I'm partially shocked that you didn't go M. Oh well, at least you can still laugh at the M owners filling up their gas tanks every few blocks!

The Mrs. needs Auto, which the M doesn't have, remember.

Nice car - but now you'll never catch CoolZ4 in the mileage game. :)
