Improving remote range

Well, I would have to say that it works...just squeeze it...but not too hard :!: You might damage something...

I keep one of those same chickens around to wave over my keyboard when I fix end luser's problems with a "slow network". (hint - it's usually their server)

I have noticed that whenever I am in a parking lot that has a lot of security system radio frequency interference I have to be within 3-5 feet of the car before the remote will work while in the parking garage where I work it's more like 30 feet. It seems like the frequencies in use by the system on our Z4's are more sensitive to interference than what I have seen on other BMWs. In the same parking lot that makes me stand next to the car to get my Z4 remote to work my wife's X3 remote can unlock her car from about 40-50 feet.

My WAG is that it all has to do with the receiver (in the mirror assy?). With all the tech dudes/dudettes here there must be a practical way of improving the range. Resistance is futile.

I'm going to try an aftermarket alarm.

Just back from a hectic week travel and will have a think.

The problem must be car specific as mine will open it from 50-100m without problem. As posted somewhere before I can have the roof down fully while walking before I reach the car.

With that, my motivation levels to find a cure for a problem I don't have are limited... :)

always park so that as you approach the car, you're walking toward the front window.

Mine works from any direction up to about 75 feet, but of course, the electric trunk lock has now failed on me. Gotta love a car with personality.
