Impromptu early morning drive....

Just out of interest OG a few years ago when we had a hot summer and a hosepipe ban, can't remember which year it was off the top of my head, the church spire from the submerged village of Derwent was exposed in the Ladybower reservoir in your pics, it was quite spooky and surreal seeing a church spire sticking out of the water!

Yep give me a shout next hoon.

The village that was flooded for the reservoir was called Ashopton iirc...

Google it, well worth a read..

It is a nice area indeed, I passed it yesterday and am now in Yorkshire.

The only bad part was the M1 to get here, no idea how anybody can drive that road on a regular basis as it took me over 6 hours to get here. Views are really nice - don't see many nice cars around here though, only seen 1 zed so far in Masson yesterday.

Great pictures  I'm off to the Peak District next weekend. Have you got any recommendations of roads and places to visit?

I'm staying at a hotel in Dronfield and was planning on visiting Ladybower & Derwent Reservoir as a starting point.

Matlock bath, bakewell, Buxton are all nice..
Castleton and the caverns..

Foolow and bradwell I like...

Although the estate is getting very money grabbing Chatsworth house and gardens are worth a visit, some nice walks along the river too. If you like walking look for Longshaw which is 15 mins from Dronfield and you can walk along Froggatt edge, the views across the valley are quite something, or head the other way towards Hathersage.

Castleton is worth a quick trot round and lunch if you try the caverns there at the base of Winnats pass.

These are on top of the suggestions Z4M-2006 has said.

Thanks both your advice, it was greatly appreciated. I had a great weekend, lots of walking, photography and great driving roads :driving:

Thanks again, I'll post some links to my pictures once i've sorted through them and posted them on Flickr.
