impossible or not?

What you need to dry the car is one of these :-

Expensive but you cannot probably buy anything better to dry the car.

hope the link works but if it doesn't then just go to the polished bliss website & go to drying aids section.

Poorboys is a great product, used in on my Range, as the car had very soft paint, but works a treat

What about using a quick detailing spray as a drying aid?

Scratch X is meant to do the trick on minor scratches and it's not too expensive. When the hosepipe ban is over I'm going to see if it removes the small scratches on my black Zeddy.

By the way, a good drying towel: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/drying-towels/dodo-juice-soft-touch-premium-drying-towel/prod_947.html

Wouldn't advise using the Scratch X. Bought some and tried it on a small test scratch (on the wifes car, not mine). It caused loads of minor scratches around the main scratch, and didn't hide anything. Ended up breaking out the DA and ploishing the scratch out.

Still tempted to buy a DA polisher...

off topic but indirectly on topic...

What did you apply Scratch X with? I'll test it on one small panel, don't want to add more scratches! Perhaps should've gone with the Poor Boys stuff.

I bought the Scratch X as I like Meguiars products, and thought maybe this time one of these scratch repair products would work. I used a microfiber cloth, small amount of Scratch X after a wash. Tried polishing out the scratch (which was a surface scratch, not through to the undercoat). There was no improvement, so I cleaned off any residue and rewashed the panel. Then I noticed all the micro-scratches around the main scratch that weren't there before. A good polish with a DA, and all was back to normal.

Eventually repaired the scratch by using a fine brush and paint, some 1200 grit, and cutting compound/polish. Now I cant see the scratch....

Cleaning is as important as the rinse and dry. Two buckets (or more), wash mit, and correct pre-wash are all vital.
Thanks what pre- wash do you recommend?

I typically pressure wash to get rid of most dirt prior to the 2 bucket method. However, snow foam is a good pre wash, also Iron X.
