IMmie

As some others have started their own car progress threads, I thought I'd start a thread to follow IMmie's progress...

This whole adventure started off as a comment on a thread about her possibly being the lowest mileage garage queen out there. Temptation to go and look was high and after a few discussions about service history and other stuff including "Do it" comments from Ruby and Woots I found myself putting down a deposit subject to condition etc. It turned out the service history wasn't all it should be, but with silly low mileage and a commitment from the dealer to do an Inspection II prior to delivery and written confirmation from BMW that if that was done and any problems resolved, the warranty was intact I decided to go ahead.

There are other pics on the thread linked to above, but this is what met me...

The roadtest was fine, I paid for her there and then and went off to Dubai for a work trip which I hoped would take my mind off waiting (it didn't)

The weekend I was supposed to collect her was a write off. Snow everywhere so mission aborted. Anyway later the following week it cleared enough to be able to collect her and drop off #69, my Alpina Roadster S. (Thoughts on the differences once I've driven IMmie a bit more)

There wasn't room to park them next to each other for comparison shots, so this is the only one of them together

It's remarkable, even when you think you've emptied the car you're trading in, quite how much clutter you missed...

Anyway, after a short trip back into their workshop to interrogate the Bluetooth module to get the pairing code it was a careful drive home in the snow. It was too dark to get any pics at home that night, but after what may have been her first night parked in a street this is what met me in the morning... (at least they'd waxed her, some nice beading right there)

So this weekend was my first weekend with her and looking over her there are lots of signs she was bought and hardly used. (apart from only 6000 miles on the odometer)

Coming out of the front door to this view makes me smile...

And this keeps the smiles coming...

The windscreen stickers are still in place

So, on with the modding, off with this...

And on with this...

This is important... Thanks Taz!

Having it next to the rear view mirror also serves to use it as a mini sunshade in that irritating gap the blinds don't cover.

So that's it for now. I have cupholders and a storage net to fit, and the Intravee is a high priority mod but the weather isn't letting me do that yet. As I do them, I'll add pics as a "how to" if it's something not already covered on other people's threads.

For now, this is the one view I want a lot more of...

Hope you like her, I keep going to have a sneaky look outside :)

She's a beaut Stuart

That last shot of the pristine steering wheel shows just how mint she is. Nice.

You need driving gloves Stuart :D

Excellent write up Stu  I would kill for a steering wheel that mint! The car looks so lovely & that 3.2 will put many smiles on your face I guarantee it, enjoy :driving:

Fantastic write up Stuart. The bonus is that - you know the excited feeling you get as you leave the house and see her parked up? Thats always there :)

Thanks all

For a few days anyway. I went and checked out the garage this afternoon. New home for her sorted. It's not the environmentally controlled palace she lived in before, but it has power and a small workbench so it will keep the rain out of the roof motor well :)

That looks like a cracking car and as others have said that steering wheel just looks brand new! :)

Looking very nice there, Stuart :D love the thickness of that steering wheel, was one of the mods I was thinking of for mine ...

Tapatalking...
