I'm on the lookout for another Z

A Datsun 240Z, series 1 with vertical heater elements in the rear window, and vents on the hatch, 1970/71.

As some of you know I had one before my 911, had it twice actually, restored it and loved it to bits, I'm fancying another, they're quite expensive over here, for ages you could get one for £10K now they're £20K + so I'm looking for a dry state lhd one, I've got a few sites i'm looking at, Ebay America, Zcartrader.com and a company that imports them in Holland, I want a manual, matching numbers car, don't mind some work, engine out repaint etc.

Rust is a killer on these, they're a monocoque and the inner wings, floor pans, and tailgate sections all rust on the European cars, dry state cars are much much better.

The reason I'm posting on here is if whilst your surfing around you come across one then please send me the link, I'm in no rush to get one, well I'd like one in the next few months but you know what I mean :-)

Cheers All :-)

Awesome. Maybe worth checking, and possibly posting a wanted ad, on Zclub.net. Just sold my 260 on carandclassic. Good luck in the search. Make you post plenty of pictures up when you get one! What are your plans for it - standard or modified etc?

I'm still friends with a guy called Jon Newlyn of the Classic Z Register and he's keeping a look out too, my plans are to keep it Standard, maybe a set of Wolfrace Slots and Tripple carbs but nothing more, I won best restored twice with my old one in the Autoglym Concours, I don't want to make another concours one, but I do want to make a good one, repaint, engine out, new hoses, clips, new chrome, anodise all the metal bits etc.

Quentin Wilson talked about early 240's the other week and said get one now, going to be a 40-50K car in the future, better than money in the bank, or shares as I'll still have an asset to sell in the future

They do look the nuts just standard on slots.

Yeah, interest in them has definitely grown a lot in the last few years, and the prices have risen and risen.

Am sure you already know about them, but in case not, http://www.thezfarm.co.uk/ occasionally have, or can source, good ones. Chap I know got his 27k mile, one owner, completely original 260 from them.

Thanks TDJ

I do know about the Z farm, I'll have a look at that they have :driving:

Just going to bump this thread guys, I've seen an early 240Z in America that I'm waiting on a response to my questions and some more pics, but very happy to use your eyes too :D

That looks great, it has wheel arch extensions, a deep front spoiler and fancy wheels which I like, but I'm sticking to old school standard on the one I get, I do like those wheels though :D 8)

I was going to write that I was surprised that a 240Z held any attraction. Then I saw the picture above. Now I want one!

Always fancied one of these. There's a chap somewhere in the UK that's put the skyline R33 running gear in. Now that must be fun. If I ever get my garage I'm hoping to find one of these needing some love and slowly restore it over the years. I'll just keep dreaming for now thought.
