Im getting tyred of looking

So I'm down to a final few tyres (or atleast I think so) but need some final advice.

I've mainly been looking at falkens because I only need 2, and the fronts have falkens on already. So im down to:


Ziex ZE-912

On paper, the Kumho's looks better based on those new "ratings", but should I mix? Then the falken 914's are better than the 912's but they don't have the XL next to them like the other 2. Really it would be a done deal on the 914's if they had the XL. But them I'm thinking, should I go for something else? Recommendations?
 
I've personally not heard anything about mixing tyres on different axels, just on the same axel they should be the same.

Out of those I'd probably go for the Kumhos as you said, based on ratings they look the better tyre. (I had a set of Kumho winters on my smart and the car was so capable come icy/snow weather)
 
For me its Vred's all the way . http://www.tyremen.co.uk/tyrefinder.aspx you will not fault them on any level & when its time for the fronts go Vred again :thumbsup:

I'll have a look at vreds, not something id considered before.

And no mismatch on axels fortunately. I have falken 912 on the front, but the rears look like slicks
 
+1 for the vreds- loved them on the 3.0 i , had a series of various vreds on different cars and never been disappointed . I would certainly consider them a bit of a forum favourite.
 
+2 on the vred!, great tyre esp for the price as good as the mitchis I had on before :thumbsup:
Try camskills and lovetyres or tyremen as mentioned above they seem to be the cheapest when I've bee looking
 
I have a new set of kumho Ecsta le sport
34psi fronts 36 psi rears

Surprisingly capable in the snow for a summer tyre and blisteringly fast in the dry. still some tramlining but in fairness not tried any others.

:thumbsup: I have these. Underated, tend to get the Vred crowd upset and the Pilot guys a bit sniffy, but I like them.

Vreds beware though. Absolutely no room for error when parking. Zero tyre lip protection for your shiny rims.

its nice to see +ve reviews of the khumo as i had this brand on my focus (cant remember the exct tyre KU31 i think) and i thought they were really good.

i would opt for the falken 453's over their 912's

check out mytres.co.uk also as i find these very good price wise.
if you have a local fitter you trust then camskil performance are always a good bet too.

i meant to say before those new ratings things i dont think are very clear for deciding.

from what ive found out the man problem is they are industry regulated and different manufacturors dont quite stack up against eachother.

what has been suggested to me on the westy forum is the wet grip represents 3m shorter stopping distance in the wet per letter. (assume a given depth of water etc for the test)

The efficiency is down to fuel saving for A to G it's aprox 7% per divison.

if you worked on the letters alone then £78 per tyre Sunny tyres are a C and B rating ... would anyone here chose them over a mid/higg range brand??

personally i find them a bit missleading but worth noting all of the ones we all seem to like are E for the resitance and c/c for wet. id be happier with recomendations from owners.
 
i would if they are the ones that come with a rim protector.

anyway did you make a choice?

i have just had a very expensive morning at the wheel allignment place :) lol
 
I was looking at the vreds based on recommendation, but couldn't find a place local that did them.

In the end I decided to go with the falken 914s, I couldn't find anything that suggested I did need them to be extra load. Getting them fitted tomorrow.
