Hi all
I owned a 55 plate 2.0 roadster 7 years ago, I only had it a year and while I loved the car, I found (at the time) 150bhp disappointing. Since then I have had a 350 and 370z, and currently have a remapped s3 with 300bhp. My weekend car is a 1990 mk2 goof GTI with 1.8T engine conversion sitting at 215bhp, it's an animal, but I am tempted to move it on after 4 years ownership for a roadster.
Now the reason I'm going on about power etc is that now I'm getting older and more boring, the power isn't such an issue, especially as the s3 is so fast. So if I were to get a z4, I probably would not be overly fussed about what engine it had. Are running costs (petrol aside) much different between engines? If I sell the golf I will be getting rid of a special car, but with my first child on the way, if I am to keep a weekend toy then it should probably be slightly more sensible
I'm guessing my budget will be in the £5-5.5k budget and I would hope to get something with around 80k miles or less
Thoughts?
Cheers
Pedro
