Illuminated Door Sill Finishers

Sorry, but I've got to ask why do want to cover your non M car in M badges, it's bad enough the other series owners doing without us jumping on the bandwagon :fuelfire:

My 523i Sport (E60) also had M door sills (standard) but it was not a M5. I did not put M5 badge on the boot lid. My Z4 is Sport model, so I put M door sills on. Many Sport/M Sport models have M door sills.
 
Don't get me wrong that's what's wrong BMW should never have started the 'M Sport' range and diluting the M brand, to the great unwashed they see M badge on a 318D M Sport and think its M3.

IMO it's no different to someone putting 3.0 badges on their 2.0, 2.2, 2.5.

I think there's a distinction here:

Sticking a 3.0 on a 2.0 or an M3 on a 318 is 'passing off' in other words trying to say the car is something it's not. That I think is silly and wrong on many levels.

OEM having Msport parts (that may have some loose connection to M designed) is a branding excercise to sell more cars. Ultimately it ruins sub brand, but I see no problem in that if it makes the buying customer or 318 company rep happy.

BMW have though as with many things like this created their own problem and as you say will dilute the brand and will eventually destroy it.

Incedentally the illumintated sills that many are fitting and mine came with are not ///M but have 'Z4' on them
