Illuminated door kicks, fitted with a pic illuminated :)

Hey Jonny, as a few others have said already it sounds like you might have the polarity round the wrong way. Essentially (if we've guessed correctly) it means you've connected the two wires the wrong way around, to resolve try disconnecting, swapping them over and reconnecting.

On an earlier post you mentioned connecting the positive cable to what sounds like an earthing point - most cars are negative earth. As others have said earlier, LEDs only work when connected correctly (one way), unlike for a normal filament light bulb where it doesn't matter. As it happens, if you have a normal bulb (12v) you can use that or a multimeter to see if you are getting power to your connection points, also as said before - Im not saying that to be blunt, just to credit those who said it first.

Good luck, I hope its a bit clearer for you now! :)

As above ^^^^

Also, it does not harm to swap the wires around either, you can test all of the basics without a meter.

just as a note you might want to use a grommet for where the cable goes through the metal work, but they do look nice, as does the car

Hey Jonny I'm about on Tuesday and will be out for a drive so don't mind chucking in a few tools and coming to have a look for you. Fresh set of eyes and all that.
Plus I used to dabble in autoelectics.
Let me know ?

Hi

As all have said .. Anode should be positive & the Cathode negative

But don't reverse bias the LEDS for to long as the PN junction can go open circuit .. then you are stuffed and they would need to be replaced

Looks very good

So ... did you hook up the earth to a plastic connection?

To be fair to Jonny he had managed to find the right switched live wire but just didn't understand the whole earthing thing and the instructions weren't that clear if you don't have footwell lights most people would struggle.

all in he had done the hard part all he needs to do now is get rid of that tree that drops all the catkins over his car, got to get the Hoover out now to empty mine. Although he did offer to vac mine before I left :D

Glad you got em sorted Jonny and well done Stuartt for taking the time to help him out.
Stuart who

I know I was only with you for an hour Jonny, but even you can't forget someone that quickly :poke:

I was thinking now we know which wires to tap into it wouldn't be too much bother to connect up a couple of footwell lights if you wanted :D
