Ignition switch effort

Hi got my first Z4 it has 28000 miles on it. Everything works fine but I was wondering how much effort it takes on others to turn the ignition key from off to 1 position. Seems a little hard compared to other vehicle I have had.
 
The Zed is stiffer than the Clio, and possibly harder than my previous 3 series.

Unless its major effort I wouldn't worry

I will have to learn the talk but what is a Zed and a Clio?
 
A Zed is what you call a Zee 4 :thumbsup:

A Clio is a very small hatchback car over here made by the French.
 
Is it interference from the steering lock?

Might just need some movement of the wheel to aid release.

This. Just wiggle the steering wheel when turning the key.

Its the same with every other car ;-)

Now that it's been mentioned, I guess the Zed's lock is a bit stiffer than other cars I have, even without any interference from the steering. About the same as a small residential deadbolt but less than a big heavy Medeco lock. As long as it's somewhere in that range and assuming the steering isn't contributing any drag, there isn't any dragging, grinding, or catching sensation, all should be OK.

(it's funny peculiar how many Yanks have never heard of the letter 'Zed' (no offense randyf), after all even Canadians use the term. We all need to get out in the world more.)
