Ignition barrel issue

Went to start the car yesterday.

Goes to position 2, all dash lights come on, windows, lights etc work (so battery is fine), turn to position 3 to start the car and... nothing. No noise, no warning lights, no starter motor trying to turn; nothing. Just a car that won't start.

It then won't turn to position 3 again until I completely rotate the key position to off.

Video below (excuse the socks).

Any ideas? Thinking it might be a fooked ingnition barrel? It's defo not a battery issue or starter motor issue as the car has started a couple of times (after about 30 attempts.

Please help :-)

I would take a guess at the ignition switch.I have neve changed one,ops on here say they are cheap and easy to change.
I know this contradicts what is above ,try a little thin oil on the key ,then insert into the barrel to see if there idly bits in the barrel.

Could be the ignition switch. Changed mine couple of years ago. New £70 odd quid, or a tenner for a used one from quarry motors. Only a ten minute job as well so well worth doing for a tenner to rule it out.

The not going to pos 3 again without turning it off is a safety feature to try and stop people engaging the starter when the car is already running. Sounds like an actual switch problem, rather than the lock/column. I have a spare here in the shop if you need it, couple of quid forum donation to cover p&p?
