Maybe this is just a demo to show what can be done - no one would put that back on their car surely?

I'm a maintenance engineer in the engineering industry and all i'm going to say is you would be amazed at what can be done with metals and alloys, they are so much more than what the average joe realises, if you like that video then look at this, you'll sh1t your pants lol :lol:

Personally, I'd not trust it. Rather it were melted down and a pucker new one produced.

.....and you have to be nuts to go anywhere near a lathe wearing gloves anyway!

I've just watched the thing again and you don't actually see the wheel after a spin close to the end (and still a bit wobbly). Getting the last 5% of true would be time consuming - either that or start machining lumps off.

My guess is it was just to demonstrate the machine and the wheel went into the scrapper. Well, I hope so.

It must have caught someone's imagination because the comment below the vid roughly translates as a punter asking where he can buy one.

Looks very labour intensive, short video makes many hours worth of work look like a 5 minute job. Also there are far better lathes than this, even ones from decades ago are CNC.
